COUNTY OF CAVAN

John Brady, found guilty of an attempt to assassinate the Rev. Mr. Beresford, has been sentenced to transportation for life. The judge remarked that the recent change in the law alone had saved the prisoner frm the penalty of death.

A wretched man, rather respectably connected, was found guilty of the murder of his wife, and is to be executed on the 25th instant.

Six persons are to be transported for life, and about 15 for 14 years. One murder case remains to be tried, and another has been put off until next assizes.
