Hibernian Chronicle 18 December 1797

DIED -- Last week at Carrigeen near Doneraile, John Ahern,
farmer, aged 111 years. He was in perfect health until a few
days before his death, and used to walk a quarter of a mile
every Sunday and Holyday to Mass. -- At Ballinree, in the same
parish, James Stuart, a farmer, aged upwards of 102 years.
A singular instance happening in one week, and in the same
parish, of the death of two such ancient persons.
