Clare Journal Dec 16 1822

King's Bench, Dublin
Crowe a. Fleming
..... The property is near £2,000 per annum ..... the plaintiff is the son of the late George Crowe, Esq., an attorney, who in the year 1794 married Miss Minchin, cousin german to the late Lord Clare. Plaintiffs mother died a few months prior to this marriage - and, as he alleged, was married to his father in the year 1790, when he ( the father ) was confined in the Marshalsea in Dublin. After the marriage of the plaintiff's father with Miss Minchin, the plaintiff and his brother ( then about 8 years of age and who is confessedly illegitimate having been born prior to the marriage in 1790 which it was the object of this suit to establish ) were taken from the boarding school in Abbey Street and sent out to the county Wicklow, where they were reared in ignorance of their birth, and in some time were apprenticed to a shoemaker. After serving his time, the plaintiff enlisted in the Clare Militia, in which, by a strange coincidence, the defendant was then a Captain. ........ plaintiff's
father, George Crowe, left no male issue and the defendant, as the son of Crowe's sister, and deserves under the will of her father ........... no decision.
